Defining a New Standard

We were  the first company to develop a "one box does it all" solution to pager testing and maintenance. It completely eliminates the clutter, cabling and confusion associated with using many separate pieces of test equipment to accomplish the same task. The unit is also very easy to use, since many of the knobs and buttons associated with separate pieces of equipment are not required. It's also the smallest and lightest unit available.

Pager Testing, Alignment and Re-Crystalizing

All this can be accomplished quickly and easily with the TC-1101B. The unit incorporates an RF Signal Generator, FLEX/POCSAG Encoder, IF Frequency Counter, AC Millivolt Meter, IF Signal Generator and a 1.5 VDC power supply. In the alignment mode, all necessary readings are simultaneously displayed. These include IF freq., IF Amplitude (digital meter and analog graph bar), and Signal Generator RFAmplitude. The amplitude of the sig. generator can be varied from this same screen. Any make or model can be tested, aligned and repaired with our equipment. This is an important fact since many units made by other companies cannot test NON-Motorola FLEX alpha-numeric pagers such as the NEC Companion.

Versatile, User-Friendly Encoder

Anyone who has used a Motorola R-1150 as well as other brands of encoders is all too aware of their deficiencies. For example, when using the R-1150, if you want to change the data rate (speed) from 1200 bps to 2400 bps you must erase the capcode that you've already entered, then hit a series of buttons (whose sequence must be committed to memory) and then re-enter the cap code again. Additionally, the front panel does not indicate what speed or data format the encoder is set for. You just have to remember what you set it for. Most other encoders have similar failings as well.

In contrast, our encoder can be reconfigured in seconds without having to erase or back out of any previously entered data. All parameters of the encoder are simultaneously displayed. Cap codes can also be incremented up or down in seconds. This facilitates the testing of multiple pagers with sequential cap codes. Another unique feature is the ability of the user to create their own numeric or alpha-numeric message via the front panel.

Computer Interface

The unit incorporates an RS-232C and mouse port. This allows for useful computer applications such as automated testing, automatic pager label printing and bar code generation / reading. The unit comes complete with an RS-232C cable, software command set and other technical data required to interface it with a PC.

There is also an effort underway to interface the tester to the Motorola programming software. This will allow the tester to be automatically configured with the proper freq, cap, speed of the pager by merely reading the pagers code plug. This will make the testing of pagers a fast, effortless task that anyone can do.

Setup Memories

This feature will save you countless time by allowing you to Store and Recall up to 100 user definable instrument setting. Parameters such as Freq, Cap, Data Speed, Format and RF Level can be stored and recalled. Memories can also be quickly scrolled through before a selection is made. Other competing units either don't have any memory at all or if they do, they will not store the RF level as well as other parameters.

Digital Attenuator

Our  RF Signal Generator incorporates a precision digital attenuator to adjust the RF output to the specified level. The output level can either be incremented in 0.1 , 1 or 10 db steps by use of the up /down arrow buttons or the rotary knob. The rotary knob gives the ability to continuously vary the output level. The rotary knob is optically coupled to the attenuator so it will never wear out. A desired RF level can also be manually entered or recalled from memory as well.

This provides the ultimate in shielding with no detectable EMI leakage. All circuit boards use the latest surface component technology which insures minimal power consumption and internal heat dissipation. The TC-1101B has no internal cooling fan and yet doesn't get warm. Remember, heat is a leading cause of equipment failure! Frequently Asked Questions 

Can the TC-1101B Pager Tester test pagers manufactured by Motorola, Uniden, NEC     etc.?
Yes. The unit will test all POCSAG and FLEX pagers regardless of brand.

Other companies claim that a receiver (service monitor) is required to Test, Align or Re-freq pagers. Is this true?
No. The factory alignment procedures detailed in Motorola's, and other manufacturer's service manuals, DO NOT mention or make use of a receiver.

Is it best to buy a screen room or a screen box ( TC-5010A TEM Cell)?
If you have intentions on performing component level, RF troubleshooting, a screen room is a must. A commercially made screen room costs 3 to 4 times what a screen box does and takes up a lot of floor space. If your only intention is to test, align and re-crystal pagers then our TC-5010A is all you need.

How easy is it for a beginner to set up and use the TC-1101B Pager Tester?
Since you're only dealing with one piece of equipment there is no set up required. Since it was specifically designed for pager servicing, it is very easy to use. Many other pager test equipment vendors require you purchase multiple pieces of equipment and then wire them together. This is cumbersome and takes up valuable bench space.

Other pager test equipment vendors claim that it makes more sense to purchase many separate pieces of equipment (as opposed to an all-in-one unit ) since if one piece of equipment breaks you will still be able to repair pagers. Do you agree?
No. If any one of the separate pieces of equipment break, you are effectively crippled until it is repaired. So it doesn't matter if you have separates or an all-in-one.
